Telehealth Virtual Care Services.
Telehealth mental health services allow clients to access therapy sessions and mental health support remotely via secure video or audio platforms. This policy outlines how telehealth services are provided, ensuring client confidentiality, safety, and compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Eligibility.
Clients must reside in a state where the therapist is licensed, have access to a private, distraction-free space, and possess the necessary technology (e.g., device, internet connection). Telehealth may not be suitable for all clients, such as those in acute crises, requiring in-person care. Alternatives will be discussed if necessary.
Informed Consent.
Clients must sign a Telehealth Informed Consent Form acknowledging telehealth is voluntary and can be discontinued anytime, potential risks (e.g., technical issues, confidentiality), and responsibility to maintain their own privacy during sessions.
Technology.
Thrive uses secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms (e.g., Zoom for Healthcare, Doxy.me). Clients are responsible for ensuring their devices and internet connections are functional.
Confidentiality.
Sessions are private and not recorded unless agreed upon in writing. Clients must ensure their environment is secure and free from interruptions.
Responsibilities.
Clients must attend sessions in a private location and log in on time, inform the therapist of their physical location during each session, and notify the therapist immediately of technical issues. Therapists will use secure platforms, adhere to confidentiality laws, and provide backup communication options (e.g., phone) if technical issues occur.
Emergency Protocols.
Clients must provide their location and an emergency contact at the start of each session. In crises (e.g., risk of harm), the therapist may contact emergency services. For immediate emergencies, clients should call 911.
Fees and Cancellations.
Telehealth sessions are billed at the same rate as in-person sessions. A 24-hour notice is required for cancellations. Late cancellations or no-shows incur the full session fee.
Limitations of Telehealth.
Telehealth may be less effective for certain therapeutic techniques or situations. If limitations arise, in-person care or referrals will be discussed.
Termination of Telehealth.
Thrive reserves the right to discontinue telehealth services if policies are repeatedly violated or telehealth is deemed ineffective or inappropriate.

The Client/Patient Therapist Relationship.
The relationship is a professional and confidential association where the client shares very personal information with the therapist. To ensure that the client receives the maximum benefit from the therapy services, it is important to remember that the therapist is your health-care provider, not your colleague. This does not mean that you may not like each other; it means that the relationship must remain on a professional level.

While your thoughtfulness is always appreciated, gift giving should be avoided. Bartering is not an accepted method of payment for professional services. Payment for therapy services must be made by the process discussed in the “Fees” section of the following policies.

Because the nature of our therapeutic relationship is confidential, should I see you out in public, I will not approach you. You are, however, free to acknowledge or speak to me and I will gladly greet you back. I will not make any reference to how we know each other. You may choose to or not to disclose to anyone else present the nature of our acquaintance.

Legal Exceptions to Your, Client or Patient Confidentiality.
Your confidentiality is a priority; however, there are specific circumstances under which I am legally required or permitted to break confidentiality to protect you or others. These include:
Threats of Harm to Others
-
If I have reason to believe that you intend to harm another person, I am legally obligated to take steps to protect the potential victim. This may include:
-
Informing the intended victim of your intentions.
-
Contacting law enforcement to ensure their safety.

Abuse or Neglect of Vulnerable Individuals
-
If I have reason to believe that a child is being abused or neglected, I am required to report this to Child Protective Services (CPS) within 48 hours.

Minors and Confidentiality.
Communication between therapists and clients who are minors (under 18) is treated as confidential. However, parents or guardians who authorize a minor’s treatment are often involved in the process. As a result, I may use professional judgment to discuss treatment progress or concerns with the parent or guardian when appropriate. Both minors and their parents/guardians are encouraged to discuss any questions or concerns about confidentiality or the treatment process at any time.

Client Emergencies.
If you have a life-threatening emergency, including feeling like hurting yourself or others, call 911 or go to the closest hospital emergency room, then contact me at 407-961-6044. I will return your call as soon as possible in case of an emergency. If it is not life-threatening, I will return your call the next business day. If you need an emergency session due to crisis, I charge $200 per hour and will have your session scheduled within 24 hours from receiving notice of the need/crisis.

Termination of Services.
Throughout our work together, we will establish goals that you wish to achieve. We will monitor your progress, and once your goals have been met, we will discuss the termination of therapy. If our work does not seem to be yielding the desired results, I may recommend a referral to another therapist for various clinical reasons or a higher level of care. In either scenario, we will review the therapeutic process and conclude our sessions in a way that is beneficial and healthy for you.

You are not obligated to commit to a specific number of sessions and are free to end therapy at any time. However, I request that you provide at least one session’s notice before termination. This will allow us to properly conclude our work together and ensure that the termination process is therapeutically sound. If you have any questions or need clarification about anything in this form, please feel free to ask. Thank you for choosing me as your counselor—I look forward to working with you on your therapeutic goals!
